TEMPORÄR STABIL ist eine raumgreifende Installation aus gefaltetem und geklebtem Recyclingpapier. Ausgangspunkt ist ein strahlenförmiger Grundkörper, der vervielfältigt, gedreht und ineinandergeschoben wird. Durch die gegenseitige Durchdringung der Formen entsteht eine komplexe Struktur aus Flächen, Kanten und Zwischenräumen, die zwischen konstruktiver Ordnung und fragiler, beinahe organischer Erscheinung oszilliert. 

Aus der Zusammenarbeit mit der Komponistin Diana Cemeryte entwickelte sich parallel zur Installation eine eigenständige Komposition für Akkordeon, Geige, Klarinette und Bassklarinette. Die vier Instrumente greifen das Prinzip der vier sich durchdringenden Grundkörper auf; ihre Klanglinien übertragen deren räumliche Bewegung in eine musikalische Struktur. Papier tritt dabei als fünftes Instrument hinzu: Rascheln, Knistern, Falten und Reißen verbinden Material und Klang unmittelbar miteinander. So begegnen sich Installation und Komposition als zwei eigenständige Arbeiten, die aus derselben Idee von Vervielfältigung, Durchdringung und räumlicher Ausbreitung hervorgegangen sind. |

TEMPORÄR STABIL is a large-scale spatial installation made of folded and glued recycled paper. Its starting point is a radial basic form that is multiplied, rotated and interlocked. Through the mutual penetration of these forms, a complex structure of surfaces, edges and interstitial spaces emerges, oscillating between constructive order and a fragile, almost organic appearance.

In collaboration with composer Diana Cemeryte, an independent composition for accordion, violin, clarinet and bass clarinet was developed alongside the installation. The four instruments reflect the principle of the four interpenetrating basic forms, translating their spatial movement into a musical structure. Paper is introduced as a fifth instrument: rustling, crackling, folding and tearing create a direct connection between material and sound. In this way, installation and composition encounter one another as two independent works that emerged from the same idea of multiplication, interpenetration and spatial expansion.

fragil – ein interdisziplinäres Kunstprojekt des BBK Leipzig, bei dem bildende Künstler:innen mit Komponist:innen und Musiker:innen der Digitalen Klangkunst zusammenarbeiten. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, wie gesellschaftliche und persönliche Fragilität – brüchige Werte, Kipppunkte, Bruchlinien – künstlerisch sichtbar und hörbar gemacht werden kann.

Spendenerlöse fließen in die Anschaffung von Sheltersuits – wetterfester Schutzkleidung für obdachlose Menschen in Leipzig. | 

fragil – an interdisciplinary art project by BBK Leipzig in which visual artists collaborate with composers and musicians specializing in digital sound art. The project focuses on the question of how social and personal fragility—fragile values, tipping points, fault lines—can be made visible and audible through art.

Proceeds from donations will go toward the purchase of Sheltersuits—weatherproof protective clothing for homeless people in Leipzig.

EINFALT & VIELFALT überführen das Prinzip der Papierfaltung in zwei großformatige Aluminiumskulpturen. Ausgehend vom einfachen Blatt Papier thematisieren die Arbeiten den Übergang von der Fläche zum Raum und zeigen, wie durch Faltung neue geometrische, konstruktive und statische Eigenschaften entstehen. Damit nehmen sie unmittelbar Bezug auf den Aufstellungsort vor dem Beyer-Bau und die dort angesiedelten Ingenieurwissenschaften, insbesondere auf Mechanik, Tragwerksplanung und Faltkonstruktionen. Zugleich steht die Transformation einer einfachen Ausgangsform in komplexe räumliche Strukturen sinnbildlich für Prozesse wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnis und Wissensproduktion.     Matthias Lehmann_Einfalt Vielfa… In Sichtbeziehung zu Hermann Glöckners „Mast mit zwei Faltungszonen“ entsteht darüber hinaus ein Dialog zwischen zwei künstlerischen Positionen, die geometrische Reduktion, Konstruktion und Faltung auf unterschiedliche Weise untersuchen. | 

EINFALT & VIELFALT translate the principle of paper folding into two large-scale aluminium sculptures. Starting from the simple sheet of paper, the works explore the transition from surface to space and demonstrate how folding creates new geometric, structural and static properties. In doing so, they directly relate to their location in front of the Beyer Building and to the engineering disciplines based there, particularly mechanics, structural design and folded structures. At the same time, the transformation of a simple initial form into complex spatial structures serves as a metaphor for processes of scientific inquiry and the production of knowledge. In visual dialogue with Hermann Glöckner’s nearby “Mast mit zwei Faltungszonen” (Mast with Two Folding Zones), the works also establish a connection between two artistic positions that explore geometric reduction, construction and folding in different ways.
